The old city

Wolf shifted through the pile of trinkets and debris looking for anything of use. Sighing sadly he stood up rubbing his wrist. He was on the second floor of a grocery store, but only half of it was still standing. Wolf watched as his shadeling trailed behind him silently. “Almost home time...” He muttered to the thing as he looked down a darkened isle. Pushing past the shrubs and plants Wolf looked across the crooked decimated shelves for anything of use. Most of the stuff was coated with rust or moss. But he did find a couple pocket knifes. “This stuff could be handy for the rest of the village...” He thought placing them in his pocket as he lifted his head and began to move his way out of the isle. As Wolf was heading towards the exit a noise to his right caught his attention. Wolf reached behind his back for his metal bar and moved towards the isle making the noise. Suddenly a flash of blue burst out from the isle and stood before him.
The female water shades eyes were a bright greenish yellow and its body looked to have a thin coat of liquid covering it. Wolf turned and jumped as the shade lifted its hand and a torrent of water rushed forwards pushing over the isles behind him. The shade limped forwards a menacing snarl on its perfectly formed face and in seconds its body melted down joining the liquid on the floor. Wolf got up banishing his rod as he looked around the silent room. Wolf stood for several seconds then began to back up slowly, his shadeling watching intently. A ice cold chill ran down his back as a wet hand slid up his shirt and another grabbed his chest. Wolf grunted and his knees shook as a burning pain ran up his body. The water shade was leeching the liquids from his body, her lips locked to his neck as Wolf cried out painfully. Suddenly Wolf's elbow flew back catching her in the gut. The shade stepped back trying to catching air again but instead got wolf's fist across the face. “Fricken shades...” He mumbled catching her limp body as her shadeling dropped out. Her light golden air fell over his shoulder and the layer of water was quickly absorbed back into her body. But he knew from experience she wasn't safe. The shadelings only drop from a full shade when there unconscious, unfortunately you cant kill them... unless there in the full shade when it dies, hence why it would wanna drop out during unconsciousness. The second she woke up it would be back in and it would start again. Picking the girl up over his shoulder Wolf started again towards his village the two shadelings chatting in there mysterious whispers to each other.

Lilith was heading north though the woods. she had just left a small village up the mountain. The snow had not melted away yet and Lilith was quite happy to leave. She had helped build a couple houses and had heard about a small village by a lake up north. She had stayed at the mountain village when she got caught in the winter coming. She had helped build a water system that would not freeze up as the temperature dropped. Lilith had set out four days ago and the village was just in site. She could also see a ruined city not far from the village its self. Lilith had chosen a pair of jeans and her blue favorite shirt for the trip up north. The weather had started to warm up and the sun was peeking out behind a cloud. she had gotten one of the locate girls to Brade her hair before she left the village. Lilith touched her dagger on her leg flexing her hands. She was always nervous when entering a new village. Her nervous grew even more as she found the gate. her senses were heightened and her mind was on the edge of fight mode. The little eyes of her shadeling staring up at her. "its ok Sophie.." she said more to reassure herself then the little shade. A fixed mask went across her face hiding her fear from the world. Her hands went to the gate preparing to open them. When she pulled on the metal it did not move. her eyes scanned the length of the fence looking for something that would let her in. " you think you are going to get in that easy shade?" bellowed a voice from above. Lilith stepped back looking at the man perched at the top of the fence cycling the city. Lilith had forgotten what most people thought about shades. "Well if you open the gate, it would be that easy." Lilith smirked. Her little shade made a chirping noise beside her. " not for you it wont be, just go back to the hole you came from." the doorman yelled back. Lilith glared at him picking up a rock and chucking it as hard as she could at the doorman.

The rock suddenly was smashed off course as another one hit it mid flight. Wolf walked slowy towards the scene the other water shade still over his shoulder. "Its ok Phil, as long as she promises not to change within the village im sure she is fine." Wolf called up leering at the other girl. Looking back up too Phil his expression softened. "Phil get the doctor, tell him we have another Rogue." Wolf called up again as 5 men lifted the wooden beam on the door from the inside opening the door up. "Remember to mind your own." He grunted to the newcomer as he started into the gate.

Lilith was shocked when her rock was snipped out of the air. she turned her head seeing a another shade walking towards her. He was carrying a water shade. She nodded to him "i have been to may villages ill be good." she said then followed him into the village. She gave the doorman one last glace. "ill see u again." she said giving him a hard look before she entered. "hay thanks for helping me out there." Lilith said matching the shades pace. her eyes moved to the water shade on his back. "what happened to her?"

Wolf just glanced back. "Don't go getting comfy... take care of your business and be on your way." He muttered annoyed by her questions. "She touched me." He said deciding to just answer it. Phil was running up ahead opening the door to the doctors house. Wolf moved in and layed the girl on one of the black blanketed beds. The room reaked of old people and the hought of the amount of deaths that this room had held sent a chill through him.

a flick of anger and shock went across her face and a blank stare filled her eyes. Lilith had been around the people up in the mountains she had forgotten what people even other shades saw of her. "anyway thanks buddy." she said her hands staying by her knife. She tossed her hair behind her. Her eyes glance onto the shade he was carrying noticing she was a water shade like Lilith. What's wrong with her she thought to herself. Lilith felt the little shade climb up her arm and perch on her shoulder. "well he is one person to stay away from." she said to Sophie.

Wolf shook his head as the girl outside of the house talked to her shadeling. "So what do you think?" Wolf asked the doctor as he walked over. "Hmmm..." The doctor murmered as he scratched his chin and looked the girl over. "Well i can give it a try... but its going to take a while... I dont have too much sleeping medication left... the other attempts took up most of what you managed to get me..."

Wolf's expression darkened and he nodded. "Ill go get some more for you tomorrow... im sure the old hospital at the ruins has some... sleep well." The doctor nodded grimmly to him and looked back down to his patients as Wolf left. It was dark outside now and Wolf sighed leaning against the building. The hospital was at the middle of the ruins one of the worst shade locations...

Lilith had walked up and down the village getting a feel for it, but there was really nothing to feel but pain and hate. She has been to many villages but this one seemed just alittle more grim. Lilith had her chain whip danggling from her hand in a loop just encase. Sophie was trailing behind her. The dark was pressing out the light. She could feel someone watching her. All the hair on te back of her neck stood up and she slowly turned around. There was a flicker of s shadow and Lilith turned unleashing her whip in the dretion it seemed to be heading up came up enjoy. She put her hands on her hips. From behind her a figure jumped onto her back pinning her to te ground. Lilith quickly rolled the attacker over grabbing his throat with him half on her now. "die shade." the person said with a mans voice. "I have had just about enjoy." she said pulling out her knife kicking him in the ribs and flipping him onto his back. Lilith had him by the throat as she pulled the hood back to find a kid no older then 15.

Wolf had heard the commotion and upon seeing the girl ontop of one of the children wolf ran up aiming a boot staight for her ribs to get her off the kid. "Get off him! I told you to hurry up and move on. not get in a fight." Wolf growled his shade close by.

Lilith spat the blood out of her mouth. "you again." she said with no emotion. She pressed the knife into the kids throat then pulled back grabbing him by his hair. "get!" she yelled throwing him say from her. "and as for you mr.due good you just said I could not change into my shade." Lilith said whipping the blood off her face. "besides that little snore tryed to jump me!" she said horrified that she was so careless to let that happen. Sophie purred and climbed onto liliths sholder her red eyes burning into the strainger that was infront of them.

Wolf growled his eeys leering. "Maybe you should have been paying more attention and didnt have your shade and your weapons out like a fucking museum!" Wolf always had a firey attitude, one of the reasons he was allowed to be be protector of the village. some of the villages beleived his will was so strong he couldnt loose himeself to his shadeling. "Its the middle of the night and your utting my people on edge. go to sleep." Wolf turned and walked off heading for his house.

"going to sleep is what I was trying to do!" she yelled as he walked away. Liliths lips were swollen and her hair had come out of the braid. "well he's has not gotten anything for a wile." she mumbled to Sophie and she seemed to agree. Lilith took a deep breath and continued on watching more close this time. Her knife was back in this case and her whip was around her arm as she walked toward a stream.

Wolf pushed open the door to his house and quickly noticed something different. His house had a different scent... Wolf stepped through the entrance and took another wiff. Removing his metal rod he looked into the living room. His couch was in the same spot and his table was still there. Wolf looked to his bedroom and saw the door was shut... And light was leaking under the door. Wolf moved closer and quickly pushed open the door. As he forced his way into the room he quickly stopped his shadeling still in the door way. "What are you doing here?" He asked upon seeing the girl on his bed.

Her eyes went wide with fear and her dark hair fell as she attempted to look away. "I... thought.... I... I didnt know you would be coming back tonight..." The girl explained her green eyes shifting away again. Wolf sighed and nodded walking out of the room, "Make sure thsi is your last night..." He grumbled grabbing his spare blanket and moving to his couch. Wolf looked over the log walls of his house and sighed folding out the well worn couch. Laying down in his bed he shook his head and curled up for the night.

Lilith made her way to the little stream that ran through the village. She pulled the hair tie out of her hair letting it fall over her shoulders. The moon light reflecting the blue in her hair. Dipping her hands in the water the chill ran up her body but it was a ffeeling she loved. The gleaming yellow and green eye of Sophie seemed to lighten up the night. Lilith brought the water up to her face drubbings some then washing herface with the rest.

Sophie watched as Lilith clean up she did not like how people wasted the water on there bodies when suck power can be taken from it. 'why did you not finish that other shade well we had the chance?" she thought
To Lilith. Sophie could agree with herself that Lilith was becomeing week and something had to be done. Sophie eyes glowed then lunged herself at Lilith sticking herself to Lilith like a fungus.

"sophie get off me!" Lilith yelled she knew it was helpless to try and pull her off so Lilith had to try and hold herself with her mind. She could feeling the change start as she struggled to get her off.

Rail grunted as he pulled him self up over the wall, he doubted they would just let him in. He paused looking around before jumping off and landing on the ground bellow. He slunk back into the shadows and peered through a window, he was out side a medics house, maybe. Inside was a boy and a man talking, something about sleeping pills and how the boy would get some more. Rail ignored it and waited for the boy to leave, he had a certain air about him, it would be safer to know where he was. He followed as the boy dashed down to a girl attacking a boy. Rail smiled, that would keep him busy for a while, as for the medic he was leaving locking up shop. Rail waited for him to start walking to what seemed like a small den. Rail turned and crouched down slidding his pick into the lock. He paused twisting the pick till he heard a click. He pushed the door open and quickly shut it behind him. He glanced around before he opened a rather large chest which was full of medicans. He grabbed some pain killers and a few shade killers. These where a drug that didn't actually kill the shade just made it so they would find it a lot harder controlling the host, they would be more common if they weren't so darn expensive. He shoved the loot into a small side bag before shifting to the computer on the desk. He wouldn't be able to take that but he would be able to take its batterys, he was all ways running low on them. He stood up about to leave before he saw the small pile of sleeping pills that they seemed to need so much. He grabbed them before leaving the house.

His throat was dry so he decided to head down to the fountain a girl was at. He was about three meters away when he saw the girls shade lunge at her, their was a scream but it was all ready to late. Rail groaned, he would be the first thing that shade went for. He quickly shoved his hand into his side back and grabbed his Shade killer pills and ground one up between he teeth before swallowing. He then opened his largest pocket on his belt, his bright yellow shade quickly lunged out at him. Rail didn't resist just kept his mind focused on keeping controll. If the girl planned to attack him he would be ready.

Wolf woke up hazilly and looked around his room rubbing his head. He was sweating and he could hear screams outside. Walking out he saw the doctor and many of the villagers outside. The doctor looked very upset and Wolf walked over to him. "This is terrible!" He cried out running to wolf. Someone has taken our medications! Wolf growled and looked around. "Has anyone new showed up other then that girl?" He asked angrily.

"No... the last of the medication was taken... luckly we gave the paitents it before bed. The alertness pils are also gone! you have the last handfull of the ones I was able to make. we wont be able to restore any of the shades you brought in until I get more." The doctor was speaking quickly having no idea what to do.

"Ill find the girl then ill go to the ruins and get more medication alright doc?" Wolf turned before he could answer and popped a pill himself. His shadeling knew what the que was and qickly jumped into him. A green hue rippled down his body and his eyes let off a uneasy green light. The ground beneath him lifted up stretching unnaturally raising him to the hieght of the nearest roof. Wolf jumped to the rooftop and run along them looking for the girl shade. Wolf ran to the otherside of the village where the stream was and spotted the girl in shade form with another guy. Leaping from the roof wolf roared as the groun beneath them started to shake and ripple making it impossible to stand still.

Sophie had taken Lilith over and her eyes had changed to a bright saphire blue. She had been bent over then the yellow shade came up behind her. Standing up Lilith realized that Sophie was not controlling her she had just wanted her to change, but why? Feet firmly stuck in the soil she turned to meet her new comer. There was a odd feeling about this shade she had never seen him before. Lilith prepared herself for battle her mind going blank only leaveing her instinks to defend her. Just then the ground shook knocking Lilith off balence throwing her to the ground. She tilled her head to the side seeing it was that same shade that had been pestering her. The wind brought a chill that Lilith new too well. It was the mist of water. She stuck her hand into the stream and her body liquified pulling her into the water. Liliths body was the stream now stretching as far as the river could flow. With a unseen power Lilith forced the water up out of the river bed creating a wave of water 15 feet above them. She forced it across the sky above the too shades then when she was in position. She released the mass of water.

Wolf raised his hands and a wall of dirt pulled its way up from the ground, the wave of water struck it and fell back down into the stream. Wolfs dirt sheild quickly changed into a barrage of rocks as he launched them towards the stream area. When the dirt landed in the stream vines quickly grew out of it sucking the water right up.

Useing what little water was left Lilith moved away from the veins and toward the shade still in liquid form. As she become closer she materialized and placed both of her hands together sending out a hydro pump of water in the shades direction. Her feet her fixed onto the grounded bringing up as much water as she could from the soil.

Wolf didnbt expect the torrent of water and got his arm hit by the blast, the water hit hard burning itno his arm. Wolf raised his other hand up and the dirt around the girl rose up covering everything but ehr head before materializing into solid rock. Wolf looked down at his blood hand and then to the girl. "Go to normal now."

Lilith could barely breath the rock arous her constricting her chest from moving, but her fight was not done. Water moved toward her in small lines toward the rock working at trying to weather it away. She was starting to lose focus now. Her mind becomeing foggy from lack of air. Lilith was on the verg of passing out. What did this guy want with her always showing up at the times she was in trouble to get her more introuble.

Wolf watched her struggle for a moment and sighed. Walking over to her Wolf punched the rock shattering it. "Thanks to that stunt your coming with me." Wolf grabbed one of the last of the shade pills he had and opened her mouth using his finger and shoving it into the back of her throat his finger going all the way in and a little in her throat to get the pill down. "Now CHANGE back!" He demanded angrilly.

Lilith feel to her knees the moment the rock was removed. Gasping for air she gagged a the shade shoved some kind of pill down her throat. Her mind was clearing and she was able to take hold of the portion Sophie was in pealing it from her mind and body. Lilith's eyes went back to there steel grey and her bluey back hair feel around her shoulders as her shade peeled off her like liquid and reformed itself a little away from them. "Sophie you ass.. " she cursed under her breath still breathing hard. "how come you always show up and assume I am the one causing the trouble?" she said getting Shaky to her feet. Sophie came up to her with big yellow and green eyes that were almost pleading. Lilith spat picked the shadeling up. "never again.." she grumbled.

Wolf grumbled as the few villagers watching cheered and he focused. The pain thumped at his head and a chill ripped at his concious. Wolf dropped to his knees and punched the ground his eyes flickering from a glowing green to a cold natural green. Finally collasping wolf's shade hopped out and wolf started getting back up. "You have been trouble since you got here... thats why." Wolf pushed against the moist grass lifting himself up.

"well I blame the doorman.. I have been to many villages but this is the coldest."she said staring down at him. Sophie climbed up onto liliths shoulder starring at the people wide eyed. "where do u think you are takeing me anyway mr.big shot." she said with a smerk. One if her hands slowly dropping down to the knife at her thigh.
